Heres a little info
You basically cook and puree ingiedients and work into a dough and bake it for kibbles.
A basic formula for a homemade diet would be 50 percent protein, 25 percent vegetables (ground so they are easy to digest), and 25 percent grain (such as rice and oatmeal). Add to that some supplements of certain vitamins, minerals, and oils rich in omega-3 for healthy skin and coat.
There are certain foods you want to avoid, such as fatty meats, cured meat, (sausage, bacon, hot dogs), any fried foods and raw pork. You also want to avoid any milk, cream, ice cream, pastries, white bread, sugary foods, grapes, raisins and onions. Also, keep in mind that anything you consider to be junk food would not be good for your dog.
Healthy foods to give your dog would include raw or cooked lean cuts of meat: beef, poultry, lamb, whitefish and fatty fish (like salmon). Also included in a healthy diet are cooked grains, eggs (raw or cooked), finely chopped or ground raw vegetables (remember, no onions), and bits of fruit (again, remember to give your dog no raisons or grapes).

Please comment about costs, health benefits, fats and proteins, how long it stays good for in the fridge or freezer… etc.
Why you do/did use it, and why you either still do or don’t anymore. If you know someone who has a dog on a natural diet, please state the difference from that dog compared to a dog on a commercial food diet.

I’ve been looking in to a semi homemade diet for my dog and have come up with a few recipes that are safe but I am just worried about them having the right nutritional value. Here are the meals I’ve prepared, please bear in mind that due to the fact that I can’t think of anything to make that is hard to take care of his teeth, I plan on mixing it 20%-80% organic, dry complete dog food – homemade recipe. Here they are;

Roasted organic, free range chicken with brown rice and vegetables (carrot, swede, celery, cabbage, peas) bound with a small amount of nut oil and some sesame and linseeds sprinkled in.

100% british organic beef mince ground in to patties with porridge oats, baked and cut in to chunks served with wholegrain pasta and some boiled veggies that I haven’t decided on yet.
Sorry….forgot to add that both recipes have yeast extract in.

The whole petfood recall has me on the internet constantly. My dog is my world and with a month and a half till his 13th birthday it has been heartbreaking enough as I’ve watched his back legs get bad, loss of eye sight and within the past month he lost his hearing. Now I watch him constantly as I was feeding him the dog treats which were deemed safe until yesterday with the WalMart brand recall. I feel I can’t trust any store brand pet products and I desparetly want to find a human food alternative. He’s still very happy and I know his day is nearing but it’s not going to happen with tainted dog food!
