I’ve been struggling for almost a year to find the healthiest but also most affordable thing to feed my dog. I’ve tried a variety of things. I was doing good for a while because he was eating Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover’s soul, which is really good quality. Unfortunately, it is too expensive for me to keep buying at this time. So now I”m going to try making homemade dog food. Does anyone know where I can find a good site that has balanced meals? I know dog’s have very specific nutritional requirements, which is why I need a GOOD site! When I google homemade dog food recipes, I get way too many hits to go through, and most of them aren’t balanced. I hope someone can help me, thanks!

My friend gave me the recipe for homemade pet food that she feeds her cats and dogs. She says that her vet passed it on to her. I’m just curious if it is actually a balanced pet food- especially for both cats and dogs. Here are the ingredients:

- Carrots
- Potatoes
- Navy beans
- Ground turkey
- Eggs
- Wheat Germ
- LOW SODIUM beef bouillon cubes

* I didn’t want to take forever listing the measurements and cooking instructions- I’m just checking this combination of ingredients.

* Her pets sure do seem healthy- even the cat has a glossy coat. That what prompted me to ask her what she feeds them.

I printed a recipe for homemade organic dogfood a couple of months ago, but now I can’t find it to pass on to a friend… it had ground turkey, brown rice and vegetables, but I can’t remember the ratios. Please re-send it if you have it. Thanks!!!

I’ve researched most of the major brands of dry diabetic dog food (e.g. Hill’s, Purina etc.), and the ones I’ve seen contain animal by-products. Does any one know of brands suitable for diabetic dogs that use human-grade ingredients? If not, are there any homemade dog food recipes that you would recommend?
